This situation report provides updates on the Ebola Bundibugyo Virus Disease (BVD) Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It outlines planned and ongoing telecommunications activities of the Logistics & Telecommunications Cluster1 (LTC) Telecoms to support the ongoing humanitarian response. Summary Points The Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) outbreak in the DRC continues to expand, with cases surpassing 2, 000 and more than 700 deaths recorded across five affected provinces. The spread of the disease into Haut-Uele and Tshopo increases the likelihood that telecommunications support may need to expand beyond the initial priority areas to support surveillance, coordination, and response operations. Security communications equipment, including Very High Frequency (VHF) radio repeaters and a radio-over-IP gateway, arrived in Bunia between 13 to 17 July. LTC Telecoms and UNDSS will configure and operationalize the equipment to strengthen radio network reliability and support security communications for humanitarian responders across Ituri. A solar backup power solution for Mongbwalu General Hospital, together with equipment needed to repair and set up the NGO security communications channel, is being mobilized from Dubai. The items are expected to arrive in Bunia via UNHAS from Entebbe in early August, strengthening both connectivity resilience and security communications for responders in Ituri.
