CARACAS, 15 July 2026. — UNOPS has just concluded a mission to Venezuela to support response recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake. Dalila Gonçalves, UNOPS Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, led the mission. She engagedin discussions with the government, private-sector representatives, and international partners to identify potential areas of cooperation in early recovery and humanitarian response. “Our solidarity is with the people of Venezuela. The communities’ needs are immense and the damage is colossal. We witnessed first hand whole buildings smashed including people’s homes, schools and healthcare facilities. We will continue to work with partners to identify areas of cooperation and support the communities’ recovery, the delivery of much needed assistance and the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure services”, said Gonçalves.
