WHO Weekly Situation Update on Ongoing Health Emergency Events in South Sudan – Week #: 28; Date: 06 – 12 Jul 2026

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY South Sudan remains in EVD/BVD preparedness and readiness mode with no confirmed cases to date, despite sustained regional risk; DR Congo has now reported 1, 926 confirmed cases and 702 deaths (CFR 36. 5%). Cumulative PoE screening rose sharply from 394, 410 to 552, 071 travellers (157, 661 additional), and the National Master Training of Trainers was completed, producing a pool of 90 trainers. Two EVD alerts (Yambio and Tambura) were investigated and discarded. Cholera declined 23. 7% week-on-week (347 new cases), with the OCV mop-up campaign set for 10 July. Polio detected a new cVDPV1 environmental isolate in Juba; measles and rubella reported no new cases this week, and Guinea Worm remains at zero cases for 2026.
