AJK elections: PPP forms 17-member parliamentary board

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has constituted a 17-member parliamentary board to oversee the issuance of party tickets for the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections. According to a press release, the parliamentary board has been empowered to scrutinize candidates and award party tickets for the elections. An important meeting of the board has been scheduled for June 27, 2026, at 2: 00 pm at Zardari House in Islamabad. All aspiring candidates seeking PPP tickets have been directed to attend the meeting. The party has appointed Faryal Talpur as the in-charge for Azad Kashmir affairs and a key member of the parliamentary board. Other members of the board include Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Humayun Khan, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chaudhry Latif Akbar and Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan. The board also comprises Mian Abdul Waheed, Sardar Qamar Zaman, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sardar Umar Gorjhani, Syed Ali Shah Bacha, and Chaudhry Riaz. PPP leaders have indicated that party tickets will be awarded on merit following consultations and scrutiny by the parliamentary board.
