KARACHI – Additional Commissioner Karachi Dr. Aatif Jaleel visited the 20th Summer Girls and Boys Basketball Coaching Camp organised by the Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) under the patronage of the Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA) at Karachi University. He was accompanied by Prof Dr. Kashif Riaz, Director Sports Ghulam Muhammad Khan, SBBA Secretary Aamir Sharif, Camp Commandant Haji M Ashraf Yahiya, and other officials. The camp currently features 98 players, including 48 girls and 50 boys aged between 8 and 21 years. The training camp, which runs daily from Monday to Friday, will continue until July 27. From July 29 to 31, selected players will form six girls’ and boys’ teams to compete in a three-day tournament. No participation fee is being charged, highlighting efforts to promote grassroots basketball development. Addressing the players, Dr. Jaleel praised their discipline and training standards, expressing hope that Karachi would continue to produce top national athletes. He encouraged students to balance sports with education and respect family values. Earlier, Ghulam Muhammad led a prayer for journalist Qamar Ahmed and announced that the 73rd birthday of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto would be celebrated on June 29.
