The makers of ‘Batwara 1947’ have released a set of character posters introducing the ensemble cast of the upcoming Partition-era drama ahead of its theatrical release on August 14. The newly unveiled posters feature Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur and Abhimanyu Singh as characters navigating the events of the 1947 Partition. Sharing the posters on social media, the makers wrote: “In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all. ” Originally announced as Lahore 1947, the film was recently renamed Batwara 1947. The earlier motion poster featured Sunny Deol holding a blazing torch, with Preity Zinta and Karan Deol standing behind him. The film marks the reunion of Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi after three decades since Ghatak. Santoshi has co-written the screenplay and dialogues with Wajahat Asghar. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film features music by A. R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Abhimanyu Singh plays the film’s principal antagonist and will be seen facing off against Sunny Deol’s character. ‘Batwara 1947’ is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 14, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
