This edition highlights a rapidly deteriorating situation in eastern DRC, with confirmed cases rising from 282 to 515 between 30 May and 6 June, across 25 affected health zones. Ituri remains the epicentre, while confirmed cases in Uganda point to increasing regional transmission risks. The note also underscores the wider operational and humanitarian implications of the outbreak. Weak contact tracing, insecurity, population movements, misinformation and community resistance continue to constrain the response, while movement restrictions are affecting humanitarian access, cross-border trade, cash availability, education and livelihoods.
