Condition of acid attack victim Dr Mahnoor is out of danger

The condition of Dr. Mahnoor Nasir, on whom acid had been thrown at Civil Hospital, Quetta, and who is presently undergoing treatment at a Karachi hospital, is stated to be out of danger, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday. Sources told the 24News TV channel that so far neither was there any threat to the doctor’s life nor to any part of her body. They said that doctor’s eyesight had not been impaired as well and that plastic surgeons and eye specialists were also examining her. On the other hand, the man, who had thrown acid at Mahnoor, was later gunned down in a police encounter. He was identified as Humayun Khan. Weapons were also recovered from his possession. Earlier, 24News TV channel reported that the treatment of Dr Mahnoor had begun at Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi where doctors were closely monitoring her condition. According to hospital sources, Dr Mahnoor has suffered burns to approximately 13 percent of her body. The side portions of both her eyes were affected in the attack; however, her vision remains intact. Sources said that burn injuries had been spotted on her face, belly, legs and the right hand. Dr Mahnoor had been shifted to the hospital’s Special Care Unit for further treatment and observation. Hospital sources said another medical examination will be conducted after 24 hours to assess her progress and determine the next course of treatment. Reporter: Usama Malik
