KARACHI: The Pakistan Prosthodontics Association will hold its Karachi Symposium 2026 on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in collaboration with Bahria Dental College, Bahria University Karachi, bringing together senior prosthodontists, dental educators, consultants, residents and students for a full-day scientific programme. The scientific programme places emphasis on prosthodontic education, implant dentistry, digital dental workflows, artificial intelligence in postgraduate training, occlusion and residency-related challenges. The inauguration is scheduled from 9: 00am to 9: 30am and will include Qirat, welcome speeches by the chair conference and patron of the Pakistan Prosthodontics Association, followed by an address by the chief guest, Vice Admiral (R) Ather Mukhtar HI(M), Director General, BUHSC-K. The first academic session, Dental Education & Research, will run from 9: 30am to 10: 45am. Prof. Dr. Nazia Yazdanie will speak on the current profile of prosthodontic residency in Pakistan and the Royal College exam, while Dr. Fahad Umer will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in postgraduate education. After a tea break, the programme will move to Dental Implantology & Technology, scheduled from 11: 00am to 1: 00pm. Speakers in this session include Dr. Taimur Khalid, Dr. Irfan Qureshi, Prof. Dr. Hina Zafar Raja, Prof. Dr. Azad Ali Azad, Dr. Ninette Banday and Dr. Munis Mukhtar. The topics in the implantology and technology session include AI and digital workflows in implant dentistry, predictable results in unpredictable times, manual versus digital data acquisition, immediate implant placement, management of the atrophic posterior maxilla and soft tissue management around implants. A lunch and prayer break is scheduled from 1: 00pm to 2: 00pm. The afternoon session, Dental Occlusion & Basic Prosthodontics, will take place from 2: 00pm to 3: 15pm. It will include lectures by Prof. Dr. Nasir Shah, Dr. Najeeb Saad, Prof. Dr. Kashif Aslam and Prof. Dr. Mahmood Hussain. The session will cover occlusal adjustment, occlusion in a digital ecosystem, treatment options for the edentulous maxilla and mandible, and patient-centred prosthodontic management. A panel discussion titled “Challenges in Prosthodontic Residency” is scheduled from 3: 30pm to 4: 30pm. The programme lists Dr. Syed Murtaza Raza Kazmi and senior faculty members including Prof. Dr. Nazia Yazdanie, Prof. Dr. Azad Ali Azad, Prof. Dr. Nasir Shah, Prof. Dr. Asif Ali Shah, Prof. Dr. Bilal Sheikh and Prof. Dr. Amir Mahmood Butt among the participants. The symposium will conclude with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sameer Quraeshi at 4: 30pm.
