Nigeria: Conflict – LTS Situation Report (Telecoms Area) #113 – Reporting period: May 2026

Led by the World Food Programme (WFP), the Logistics & Telecommunications Sector (LTS) was activated in North-East Nigeria in November 2016 in response to the protection crisis. LTS (telecoms area) Nigeria Situation Reports are issued monthly. All references to ‘LTS’ in this report refer to the telecoms area of the sector. Summary Points • Despite a challenging security environment in locations such as Damboa, Banki, Damasak, and Monguno, LTS Telecoms continues to deliver reliable connectivity services, supporting 1, 030 users across 136 humanitarian organizations. Strengthened security protocols remain in place to ensure connectivity is safe, controlled, and prioritised for operational partners in humanitarian hubs. • In Maiduguri, LTS Telecoms is progressing the deployment of a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) to strengthen connectivity and reduce downtime. Installation at the Red Roof humanitarian hub was completed on 07 May, followed by configuration and testing activities on 14 May. • LTS Telecoms delivered VHF radio communication refresher training in Maiduguri from 22 to 26 May, bringing together participants from FAO (22), UNOCHA (14), UNHCR (14), and WHO (12). In addition, radio programming support was provided to UNOCHA in line with UN communication standards, enhancing interoperability, coordination, and staff safety in the field.
