Country: Sudan Source: UN Department of Safety and Security Please refer to the attached file. Foreword by the Chief Security Adviser Kwadwo Opong-Marfo, D. Sc. Sudan remains one of the most demanding environments in which the United Nations operates. Every day, our teams make careful, often difficult decisions to balance risk and necessity, with one objective in mind: enabling others to do their work safely and responsibly. As Chief Security Adviser, I see first-hand the professionalism and judgment required to sustain a UN presence in this context. This newsletter offers a snapshot of and celebrates that work: the quiet, consistent effort that enables humanitarian access, supports our partners, and reflects our duty of care to personnel serving in Sudan. UNDSS helps bring agencies and partners to the same table to build consensus on how risk is managed and to go the last mile to ensure operations continue within acceptable risk. When that works, it enables delivery of assistance to hard-to-reach communities, brings hope to the affected, and renews our resolve to do more for a better world.
