ISLAMABAD: At least 30 crime incidents, including carjacking, robberies, mobile phone, cash snatching, and one murder, were reported at various police stations in the federal capital over the past week. According to police data, the incidents included 24 cases of carjacking, 10 instances of street crime (mobile phone and cash snatching), five robberies, two dacoities, and two murders. The data indicated that during the past week criminal gangs were mostly active within the jurisdictions of Khanna, Aabpara, Shalimar, Sangjani, and Sabzi Mandi police stations. One of the most shocking incidents of the week was reported from Ghouri Town, where robbers shot dead a man identified as Munib Qureshi during a robbery within the limits of Koral police station. According to details, three motorcycle riders armed with weapons intercepted the victim when he, along with his friend Noman, was walking on a main road in Phase 7 of Ghouri Town. The gunmen held both at gunpoint and snatched a mobile phone from Noman. They later took another mobile phone from Qureshi. When he offered resistance, one of the gunmen opened fire, hitting him in the chest. He died on the spot while the attackers managed to escape. In another incident, gunmen shot and injured a man during a robbery in the Khanna area. The injured was identified as Amir Bahadur. Two armed men intercepted Bahadur near Farooq Azam Chowk while he was riding his motorcycle and held him at gunpoint. They demanded his motorcycle, but when he resisted, they opened fire, leaving him with two bullet injuries. Meanwhile, a gang of four robbers looted a motorcycle, mobile phones and cash from a man and his son in the Jhangi Syedan area. During the last week, two cases of street crime and two cases of auto theft were reported at Khanna police station. Three cases of auto theft were registered at Aabpara police station, while Shalimar police station recorded one case of car theft and two cases of street crime.
