Highlights Renewed hostilities since December 2025 have displaced over 280, 000 people in Jonglei alone, with spillover into Upper Nile, Lakes, and Central Equatoria. Cholera cases are resurging due to displacement and limited access to WASH, with 98, 507 cases and 1, 627 deaths reported nationwide as of 28 February. The nutrition situation remains critical, children face serious protection risks, and school disruptions persist, including in Jonglei State where most schools have not opened for the new term, leaving up to 180, 000 children without education. Humanitarian access deteriorated in early 2026, with health and nutrition facilities destroyed, looted, or forced to suspend operations amid rising insecurity, bureaucratic impediments, and air and road denials. A total of 134 access incidents were recorded in January–February, marking a sharp year-on-year increase. The provisional Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeal for 2026 is funded at 30 per cent of the $197 million required, leaving urgent needs unmet and response capacity constrained.
