GB Assembly Speaker joins PPP ahead of upcoming polls

ISLAMABAD: In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming elections, Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Speaker Nazeer Ahmed Advocate has formally joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a move party leaders say will strengthen their position in the region. The announcement came during a key meeting on Friday. The meeting was attended by senior central and provincial leadership. Prominent participants included PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, senior party figure Humayun Khan, Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan, and former Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Qamar Zaman Kaira, among others. Speaking on the occasion, Nazeer Ahmed Advocate expressed confidence in the PPP leadership and officially announced his decision to join the party. PPP leaders warmly welcomed his joining the party and said that it would further consolidate the party’s strength in Gilgit-Baltistan and yield positive results in the upcoming elections.
