MoU signed with WASA Faisalabad: KFW Bank to complete mutual euros 40m climate resistance project

FAISALABAD: With the support of German cooperation, an agreement has been finalised between KFW Bank and WASA Faisalabad under which KFW Bank will complete a mutual climate resistance project in Faisalabad at a cost of 40 million euros. In this regard, a special ceremony was held in which the German Ambassador to Pakistan, H. E. Ina Lepel was the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Captain Nadeem Nasir (Retd) attended as a guest of honor. Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza, Deputy Managing Director (Admin) Shoaib Rashid, Deputy Managing Director (Engineering) Shoaib Zia, Deputy Managing Director (O&M) Usman Zia, Director P&D Hina Saleem and Deputy Director P&D Sanwal Malik were also present on the occasion. Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza gave a detailed briefing on the foreign-funded projects completed under WASA Faisalabad which was appreciated. German Ambassador H. E. Ina Lepel termed the said project, under the support of German cooperation and implemented by KFW Bank and WASA Faisalabad, as highly significant for further improving water supply. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir and Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza expressed their gratitude to her. MD WASA Saqib Raza further stated that under the project, 25 tube wells on the Inline system will be rehabilitated while one new tank and six additional tanks will be constructed. In addition, the Gulfishan Water Works will be shifted to a modern rapid sand filter system with a capacity of 3 million gallons. He clarified that the PC-I of the project will be prepared and formal work on the project will begin within the next few months. He added that upon completion of the proposed project, WASA Faisalabad will introduce further innovation in providing clean drinking water to citizens which will not only improve water quality but also help prevent water wastage. Deputy Commissioner Captain Nadeem Nasir (Retd) also held detailed discussions regarding water supply, sewerage operations, and development projects in Faisalabad which were appreciated by the German Ambassador. Later, German Ambassador H. E. Ina Lepel visited the terminal reservoir located on Daewoo Road, where she reviewed the pumping stations and other installations and appreciated the project.
