A 5. 5-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, Peshawar, and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. The tremors were felt in Swat, Swabi, Hangu, North Waziristan, and Chitral, while residents of Rawalpindi experienced the jolt as well. Residents rushed out of homes and workplaces for safety, reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba. The National Seismological Centre said the earthquake was of a moderate level, measured 5. 5 in magnitude on Richter scale, and occurred at a depth of 199 kilometres. It added that the epicentre was located in the Koh Hindukush region. Earlier on April 3, 2026, an earthquake measuring 6. 1 on the Richter scale jolted parts of the country, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The PMD said that the quake struck at 9: 13 pm at a depth of 190km, with the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan as its epicentre.
