Iraq – Floods and flash floods (IFRC, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 27 March 2026)

Country: Iraq Source: European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Several governorates of Iraq have been experiencing heavy rainfall, causing floods and flash floods that resulted in casualties and damage. The worst‐hit governorates are Sulaymaniyah, Al‐Anbar, Maysan, Nineveh and Kirkuk. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports that one person has died, 4 200 people have been displaced and 5 160 others affected. For the next three days, moderate to locally heavy rainfall is expected across most of northern Iraq.
