LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Gaddafi Stadium to support players during the opening match of the Pakistan Super League. She was warmly received by Mohsin Naqvi and other officials upon her arrival. During the visit, the CM met with the owners of all eight teams, extended her best wishes, and interacted with both local and international players, appreciating their commitment to the game. She was also introduced to players from Hyderabad Kings and Lahore Qalandars, and joined them for a group photograph. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to foreign players participating in the league and praised the organizers for successfully hosting the tournament despite challenging circumstances. She expressed her desire to see Pakistan emerge as a cricketing superpower and highlighted the unifying strength of sports. Meeting legendary cricketer Wasim Akram, who brought the PSL trophy onto the field, the CM remarked that while fans may be physically distant from the stadium, their connection with cricket remains strong. Emphasizing the importance of peace and youth engagement, she stated that the government aims to promote sports over conflict, adding that young people should hold bats and balls in their hands, not weapons.
