World: Europe — Women arriving in Europe by sea and by land in 2025

Countries: World, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guinea, Italy, Nigeria, Serbia, Spain, the Republic of North Macedonia Source: International Organization for Migration Please refer to the attached Infographic. Disaggregated data on mixed migration flows to Europe broken down by gender or age group remain incomplete. While female migrants comprise 52 per cent of the international migrant stock in Europe, migrants registered at sea and land arrival points are predominantly young males as per available evidence. Although lower in their numbers, female migrants show a specific set of drivers as to why they have left, experience specific conditions while they travel and report different intentions on their destination, that contrasts on average with what is reported by their male counterparts. This data snapshot provides a profile of female migrants arriving in Europe, based on Flow Monitoring Surveys (FMS) collected by DTM in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Greece, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Spain, and Kosovo* in 2025. * References to Kosovo shall be understood to be in the context of United Nations Security Council resolution 1244 (1999).
