Gold prices nosedive

KARACHI: Gold prices nosedived on Monday, posting the biggest-ever decline in a single day by Rs43, 600 per tola, after the world market’s free-fall, traders said. As a result of the fresh historic plunge, local gold prices dropped to Rs447, 762 per tola and Rs383, 883 per 10 grams, down by Rs43, 600 and Rs37, 380, respectively, All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association said. Global market lost USD436, pushing gold bullion prices down to USD4, 250 per ounce with silver coming back to USD64 per ounce following a USD8 decline, it cited. Domestic silver prices registered a loss of Rs800 and Rs686, reaching Rs6, 884 per tola and Rs5, 901 per 10 grams, respectively, the Jewellers Association said.
