Please refer to the attached file. In September 2026, the Central African Republic (CAR) faced severe environmental and security crises. Torrential rains and flooding affected 11, 325 people across 2, 870 households, while armed insecurity and military operations impacted a further 5, 205 people and displaced approximately 9, 900 residents across Ouham-Fafa and Bowaye. Widespread displacement, destruction of homes, and heightened insecurity have further restricted women’s and girls’ access to essential sexual and reproductive health services and increased the risk of gender-based violence. Gender-based violence accounted for 36 per cent of all protection incidents recorded during the month. To respond to critical needs across crisis-affected areas, UNFPA and its partners delivered sexual and reproductive health services to 7, 660 people during September 2026, including assisted deliveries, emergency caesarean sections, gynaecological consultations, and referrals. Through its gender-based violence response programmes, UNFPA also reached 2, 919 people with case management, psychosocial support, and safe referrals. Despite these achievements, significant funding shortfalls continue to constrain UNFPA’s humanitarian response in CAR. In 2026, UNFPA requires USD 13. 2 million to deliver life-saving reproductive health and protection services across the country. As of 30 September 2026, USD 10 million remained unfunded.
