Please refer to the attached file. Led by the World Food Programme (WFP), the Logistics & Telecommunications Sector (LTS)1 was activated in North-East Nigeria in November 2016 in response to the protection crisis. LTS (telecoms area) Nigeria Situation Reports are issued monthly. Summary Points • LTS Telecoms facilitated internet connectivity services for 1, 070 users from 144 humanitarian organizations across northeast Nigeria. Throughout September, the team maintained and strengthened connectivity services across multiple locations, resolving network disruptions, restoring services following facility renovations, and improving network reliability, resilience, and security to support humanitarian operations. • LTS Telecoms provided onsite connectivity support for the Inter-Sector Training on Data Systems for the Borno State Government. Through the deployment of a CrisisNet kit and in collaboration with humanitarian partners, the support enabled reliable internet access and effective coordination among participating stakeholders. • LTS Telecoms strengthened security communications services across deep-field locations in northeast Nigeria. Infrastructure upgrades, including the deployment of lithium batteries at five operational sites, preventive maintenance, and VHF coverage testing, improved the reliability and continuity of critical telecommunications services supporting humanitarian responders. Situation overview Insecurity continues to constrain humanitarian operations across Borno State, particularly in Dikwa, Bama, Banki, Gwoza, Monguno, Damasak, and Ngala. Ongoing security incidents, including the persistent threat of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), together with planned camp closures in Gwoza, continue to drive population movements and complicate humanitarian access. Despite these challenges, humanitarian partners remain engaged in delivering assistance to displaced populations and hard-to-reach communities. The humanitarian situation in northeast Nigeria remains critical, with cholera outbreaks, acute malnutrition, food insecurity, and continued displacement driving humanitarian needs across the region.
