The Pakistan Academy of Neurological Surgery (PANS), in collaboration with the Vintage & Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCCP), the Pakistan Society of Neuro-Oncology (PASNO), and the Brain Tumor Foundation Pakistan (BTFPak), successfully hosted the inaugural “Miles of Hope” Brain Tumor Awareness Drive and Vintage Car Show yesterday in Karachi. The landmark initiative combined the prestige of heritage automotive culture with an urgent national campaign for brain tumor awareness and neurosurgical education. The event commenced in the afternoon as a magnificent convoy of over 30 rare classic automobiles journeyed on a heritage drive from Frere Hall to the Port Grand Main Promenade. Hundreds of visitors, families, and healthcare advocates gathered along the waterfront to view the historic vehicles, interact with classic car owners, and engage with medical professionals and patient advocacy groups to learn more about the critical importance of early diagnosis and continuous public support. “The ‘Miles of Hope’ drive demonstrated the remarkable power of community when we unite for a critical health cause, ” said Prof. Dr. Syed Ather Enam, S. I. , Founding President of PANS and PASNO. “A brain tumor diagnosis remains a formidable challenge, but seeing citizens, medical professionals, and partners come together reinforces our resolve to build robust national infrastructure for neurosurgical training and patient care. It was an important step forward for neuro-oncology in Pakistan. ” Mr. Mohsin Ikram, Founder and President of the Vintage & Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCCP), reflected on the success: “VCCCP has always been dedicated to preserving automotive heritage, but driving through Karachi for brain tumor awareness gave our passion a profound purpose. We are thrilled by the overwhelming public reception and proud to stand alongside PANS to demonstrate how our community can drive meaningful, lifesaving advocacy. ” The success of the inaugural drive marks the beginning of an annual initiative aimed at continually expanding neurosurgical access, medical education, and patient support nationwide.
