The World Food Programme (WFP)-led Logistics and Telecommunications Cluster (LTC) was activated as the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) in April 2015 in response to the conflict in Yemen. This Situation Report provides a monthly update on LTC Telecoms activities. Summary Points • Escalating hostilities displaced more than 132, 000 people and forced the suspension of humanitarian activities at the Al Makha hub in mid-September, further constraining operations amid rising humanitarian needs and deteriorating access conditions. • Despite the suspension of activities in Al Makha, LTC Telecoms helped maintain operational continuity for humanitarian responders through remote ICT support, connectivity services and the relocation of telecommunications solutions to support affected locations. • From August to September, LTC Telecoms sustained critical communications services for the humanitarian community, supporting security communications for 805 responders and internet connectivity for 245 personnel operating in a complex and rapidly evolving environment.
