Severe acute malnutrition (SAM) with medical complications is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among children in South Sudan, requiring timely identification, referral and access to quality inpatient care. Stabilization centers provide a critical component of the national nutrition response, managing children with severe acute malnutrition who require specialized clinical treatment and monitoring. Understanding how these services perform is essential for assessing access to care, quality of care, service demand, and the strength of the systems that support nutrition programming. This factsheet examines the performance of inpatient nutrition services in South Sudan during January to June 2026 using data from the Early Warning, Alert and Response System (EWARS), the Nutrition Information System (NIS), and partner medical-supplies consumption reports. The analysis combines program monitoring data with patient-level information to assess screening activity, admissions, treatment outcomes, average weight gain (AWG), length of stay (LOS), geographic variation.
