FPCCI supports Asaan tax scheme

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced its support for the government’s Asaan Tax Scheme, saying traders will have to pay a fixed tax of only Rs25, 000 a year under it. Speaking at a consultative meeting held at Federation House, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said shopkeepers enrolled in the scheme will display a taxpayer plate outside their businesses, after which no one will be able to harass them. FPCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Magoon said the Rs25, 000 fixed tax is in traders’ favour. He said that, beyond the fixed amount, traders will pay only 1 percent of their turnover. Mian Zahid Hussain, chairman of FPCCI’s Policy Advisory Board, said traders are ready to play their part in economic growth. FPCCI Vice President Aman Paracha said the scheme is better than all those offered earlier. FPCCI Convener Abdul Rehman Khan urged traders to come forward with any further facilitation they need, saying they could tell the federation without hesitation.
