SHO killed by alleged smugglers

PESHAWAR: A police officer was killed in exchange of fire with alleged smugglers of non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles in Mulagori locality of district Khyber. According to police, Riaz Hussain Afridi, Station House Officer (SHO) Mulagori Police Station received a tip of the movement of a convoy of non-customs paid vehicles and started pursuing of the smugglers when the alleged smugglers opened fire on police party, resulting in receiving critical injuries. The injured police office was rushed to hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries. Police said several non-custom-paid vehicles were also seized during the operation, while reports of arrests of some suspected smugglers have also been received. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
