Constable martyred in Sargodha

LAHORE: A Punjab Police constable, Fazal Ahmad, embraced martyrdom while taking part in a raid to arrest a wanted accused in the jurisdiction of Kot Momin Police Station in Sargodha. According to police, a team conducted a raid to arrest the wanted suspect. As soon as the accused spotted the police party, he opened fire, hitting Constable Fazal Ahmad in the chest. The injured constable was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem paid tribute to the constable’s sacrifice and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. He said the Punjab Police would not leave the martyr’s family alone and would ensure their welfare and well-being. The funeral prayer of Constable Fazal Ahmad was offered at Police Lines Sargodha. DPO Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, senior officers of law-enforcement agencies, members of the Punjab Assembly, police officers and personnel, government officials and members of civil society attended the funeral in large numbers. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the mortal remains of the martyred constable, while special prayers were offered for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter. Following the funeral prayer, the mortal remains were taken to the martyr’s native village, Naseer Pur Kalan, for burial. DPO Sargodha Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem also paid tribute to Constable Fazal Ahmad’s services and met members of his bereaved family. He said the heirs of police martyrs were considered part of the police family and would not be left alone. He appreciated the constable’s courage and commitment to duty, saying that the sacrifices of police personnel further strengthened the force’s resolve to accomplish its mission.
