PM Shehbaz urges US-based Pakistanis to invest at home

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday invited Pakistani businesspeople and professionals based in the United States to invest in Pakistan, assuring them that the government was creating a conducive environment for investment and business activity. The prime minister made the remarks while meeting delegations of Pakistani businesspeople and professionals working in information technology, artificial intelligence, automobiles, energy, construction and other sectors. He described overseas Pakistani businesspeople and professionals as ambassadors of the country who enhance Pakistan’s image through their contributions around the world. PM Shehbaz said reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue had helped address issues faced by the business community. He said the government was also taking measures on a priority basis to promote innovation in agriculture and support the sector’s development. The business and professional delegations appreciated the government’s reforms and initiatives in agriculture, industry and exports, particularly the reforms introduced at the FBR. Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Bilal Bin Saqib, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh, Prime Minister’s Spokesperson for Foreign Media Musharraf Zaidi, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza, OPF Managing Director Afzaal Bhatti and relevant senior officials also attended the meetings.
