Ahmed Nadeem scores hat-trick as Pakistan crush Thailand 9-0 in Asian Games

Pakistan hockey team made a winning start to their Asian Games 2026 campaign, defeating Thailand 9-0 in their Pool B match of the men’s hockey event, the Pakistan Hockey Federation said on Sunday in a press release. Pakistan dominated proceedings from the outset, maintaining sustained pressure on Thailand throughout the match and denying their opponents any opportunity to score. Ahmed Nadeem was the star performer for Pakistan, scoring a hat-trick of field goals in the 20th, 37th and 43rd minutes. Sufyan Khan scored twice from penalty corners in the 22nd and 23rd minutes. Moeen Shakeel opened Pakistan’s account in the eighth minute, while Imad Butt scored in the 12th minute. Rana Waheed Ashraf added another in the 31st minute, with Hannan Shahid scoring in the 34th minute. Pakistan maintained complete control across all four quarters and kept Thailand from finding the net. Following the emphatic victory, Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani congratulated the national team and management, expressing hope that the side would maintain its winning momentum in their upcoming matches. The result puts Pakistan in a strong position early in the group stage.
