ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) on his 61st martyrdom anniversary, describing his supreme sacrifice as a glorious chapter in the country’s history. In his message, the speaker said the nation would always remember Major Aziz Bhatti’s unforgettable sacrifice for the defence of the motherland. He said that during the 1965 war, Major Aziz Bhatti stood like an unbreakable wall against the enemy in the Burki Sector and defended the country with exceptional courage and determination. “Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed confronted the enemy with unparalleled bravery and resolve, ” Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said, adding that the war hero had created an everlasting legacy of courage and valour by laying down his life in defence of the country. The speaker said Major Aziz Bhatti’s bravery and sacrifice would continue to serve as a beacon of guidance for future generations. In recognition of his extraordinary gallantry and supreme sacrifice, Major Aziz Bhatti was posthumously awarded Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider, he added. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the soldiers of Pakistan’s armed forces had always rendered supreme sacrifices to defend the country’s borders, sovereignty and security. He described the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland as the nation’s true heroes. “The nation pays tribute to its great martyrs, ” the speaker said. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed and for the progress, security, stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
