‘Flour supply in Punjab being closely monitored’

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department has said that the supply of flour is continuing as usual across the province and that there is no shortage of flour in the market. According to a department spokesperson, uninterrupted supply of flour prepared from government wheat was being ensured in Punjab until September 10, 2026. The spokesperson said flour mills across the province were grinding government wheat and supplying a 10kg bag of flour at Rs1, 100. The department was continuously monitoring flour supply, availability and prices to ensure sufficient availability in the market. According to the spokesperson, 222, 737 bags of 10kg flour and 342, 469 bags of 20kg flour had been supplied across Punjab. An additional 131, 956 bags of 20kg flour had also been supplied. The spokesperson said the Punjab government was taking all possible measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of quality flour to the public at the prescribed price. The department was also monitoring the performance of flour mills and the availability of flour in the market on a daily basis, the spokesperson added. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
