PM directs load shedding to be limited to two hours

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of increasing power load shedding in different parts of the country and directed that outages in any area should not exceed two hours. He issued the directives while chairing a meeting on power load management in Islamabad. The meeting was informed that power generation had declined due to the regional situation, tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions in RLNG supplies caused by transmission difficulties. The reduction in generation has necessitated load management to maintain a balance between electricity demand and supply. The prime minister directed authorities to take immediate measures to address disruptions in RLNG supplies and ensure the effective utilisation of all available resources to keep load shedding within two hours in any area. PM Shehbaz also ordered the establishment of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees at the DISCO level to address public complaints regarding electricity supply and other related issues. He instructed that the committees include public representatives and become operational within one week. The meeting was informed that electricity consumers can lodge complaints through helpline 118. Consumers are provided a token number and an estimated time for resolution. Officials said electricity supply to consumers across the country had not been affected by monsoon rains, except for six consumers in Rajanpur district. Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Musadik Masood Malik, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik and Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah and Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani attended the meeting along with senior government officials.
