Federal government introduces digital pension system

The federal government has introduced a new digital pension system, replacing the previous paper-based verification process with mandatory NADRA verification every six months. The Ministry of Finance has issued new rules under which pensioners will be able to complete verification through the NADRA Pak ID app or authorised NADRA centres. Under the new system, pension payments will be transferred directly into pensioners’ bank accounts, while the existing March and September verification schedule has been discontinued. Banks will no longer require pensioners to provide biometric verification or life certificates for pension payments. The new rules clarify that pension accounts will not be declared dormant solely due to failure to complete verification. However, pension payments will be suspended if a pensioner does not complete digital verification within six months. The government said the new system is aimed at fully digitising pension payments and verification while simplifying the process for pensioners.
