The nomination of Prof. Dr Ghazala Yasmeen, Vice Chancellor of Women University Swabi, for the prestigious Tamgha-i-Imtiaz is a commendable recognition of her distinguished career in higher education, research, women’s empowerment and institutional development. Prof. Dr Ghazala Yasmeen has established herself as a prominent academic leader, with contributions extending beyond university administration. Her career reflects a sustained commitment to expanding educational opportunities for women and strengthening research and higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She holds a PhD in Economics and has an extensive record of research publications, with academic interests including women’s empowerment and education. She has also participated in national and international conferences and contributed to the social sector through women’s education. New Provinces A significant achievement in her career was serving as the founding Vice Chancellor of Women University Mardan. Her leadership helped establish an institution focused on expanding women’s access to higher education, particularly for communities with limited educational opportunities. As Vice Chancellor of Women University Swabi, she has continued to promote educational excellence, research, institutional development and women’s empowerment. Under her leadership, the university has pursued initiatives to modernise its administration, including a proposed Campus Management System, e-Office and cashless payment mechanisms. Global Warming Her engagement also extends to contemporary educational issues. She has highlighted the importance of media literacy and equipping young people to identify misinformation and fake news in the digital age. Her achievements have been recognised through distinctions including the University Gold Medal, Star Women International Award, Quaid-e-Azam Award and Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). The Tamgha-i-Imtiaz recognises distinguished services to the nation.
