A married woman was found dead with a noose around her neck at her home in Rawalpindi’s Habib Lane area on Friday, while police arrested her husband and another person in connection with the incident. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Sadar Bairuni police station. The deceased was identified as Sundas. A case was registered on the complaint of the woman’s brother, Muhammad Ibrahim, who nominated her husband Tanveer Ahmed, his sister Fiza and Abdul Aziz in the FIR. According to the FIR, Sundas had been married for around two years and had a child. Her brother alleged that her husband had subjected her to mental distress and that she had complained about the situation several times. The complainant said Sundas had called her mother on the night before her death and told her that her in-laws were causing her distress. According to the FIR, the family called Sundas’s home at around 10: 30pm. Fiza, Tanveer’s sister, answered the call and allegedly told them that Sundas had committed suicide. The complainant said he reached his sister’s home after receiving the information. He alleged that Sundas had been murdered and pointed to the circumstances surrounding her death. Police said the woman’s body was recovered from a room at the house and that her husband and his cousin had been arrested in connection with the case. According to initial information, the woman had been found with a noose around her neck. Police said a post-mortem examination had been conducted and forensic samples collected. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, while the forensic and post-mortem findings are expected to help determine the cause and manner of death. Police said the investigation was underway and all aspects of the case were being examined. The allegations made in the FIR have not yet been proven in court.
